Verivas 5 is prescribed for adults with chronic heart failure who have recently been hospitalized or required intravenous (IV) therapy, and who have an ejection fraction (the percentage of blood pumped out with each heartbeat) below 45%. It helps lower the risk of death and reduces the likelihood of future hospitalizations.
Verivas 5 contains Vericiguat, a soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC) stimulator. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, enhancing circulation, and easing the workload on the heart—an important benefit for individuals living with long-term heart failure.
The most common side effect is low blood pressure (hypotension). Contact your doctor if this or any other symptoms persist or worsen.
Intake of alcohol should be avoided with Vericiguat.
Vericiguat should not be used during pregnancy. So, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suspect pregnancy. You or your partner must use a reliable form of contraception to prevent pregnancy while taking Vericiguat.
You should not breastfeed while taking this medication.
Vericiguat may cause dizziness. So, driving vehicles and operating machinery that requires concentration should be avoided.
Caution is advised. Inform your doctor before using Vericiguat if you have kidney problems or a history of kidney conditions.
Caution is advised. Vericiguat has not been studied in patients with severe hepatic impairment. Inform your doctor before using Vericiguat if you have liver problems or a history of liver conditions.
